So It’s already a week into 2007 and I’ve already managed to blow a part of my budget. Opps. I love cross stitch but to make sure my stash a patterns is never more than I can justify I limit myself to $50 worth of new patterns each year. Key word year. Sigh well I made a list and kept on editing it so I got what I really wanted and ordered them at the start of the year. Alas I just had to drive by a cross stitch store and get a Sweetheart mini kit. Was about to check out and saw a Beatrix Potter leaflet. Sigh. So much for a budget. And of these I think seven new fun things I predict most of them will only collect dust. Sigh.
MacMac called yesterday morning. He was sad because I was sad when I wrote one of my letters. Tail end of the year is always rough on me, deployment isn’t helping. But hey it’s a new year and he’ll be home this year. That’s a happy thought. Quarter way through the phone call all was well and we had happy chat about nothing. Tis always a good thing.
I finished cutting the new blues and greens for the Fanfare quilt… I shouldn’t be allowed to cut anything lol. Technically I had enough fabric to cut double of everything I needed. Alas my dreadful cutting skills. I have two extra for one size and a dozen for the other two sizes. The dozen is fine the two extra is worrisome.
I pieced a few blocks with the new colors ohhh how lovely! I got tired of hand piecing though. So with my scraps that could never be salvaged for this quilt (I’m talking this pesky wonky shaped or barely 2 inch strips) I cut myself a stack of 1 ½ inch blocks. 12 blocks per row and 18 rows, makes a lovely sample postage stamp quilt top to send to MacMac so he can see the new fabric!
Finally got my Black Tencel today! Hurray! 10 yards of soft cool happy fabric. Learned Tencel is made of tree pulp… and is biodegradable… hmmm not the best of ideas for something that needs to withstand time. But perfect for something that just has to withstand me for a few years. Can’t wait to make my Edwardian style skirt and jacket out of it! Maybe if I’m lucky and find my vellum I’ll have the skirt done by the weekend… vellum is being mysteriously elusive. I thought I brought it home form school but see that I can’t find it here’s hoping I left it at school.
